Fire at Mosul fabric market extinguished, no casualties reported

MOSUL, Iraq — Civil defense teams in Nineveh extinguished a fire that broke out in a commercial passage in the Nabi Yunus market district of Mosul, the provincial Civil Defense Directorate said. An official from the directorate said four firefighting teams responded to the blaze after it spread to eight fabric shops inside the Jawhara building. The official said crews brought the flames under control and prevented them from reaching neighboring stores. No deaths or injuries were reported, though surrounding businesses suffered heavy material damage. Forensic teams have begun work at the scene to determine the cause of the fire. Security units have carried out the required legal procedures at the site, according to the directorate.
