ALBANY, N.Y. โ FBI Director Kash Patel said Wednesday night that the bureau foiled a plot to bomb New York's state capitol building in Albany and arrested a woman who publicly declared allegiance to a designated foreign terrorist organization. Patel identified the suspect as Jessica Boy and said the FBI took her into custody Wednesday evening.
According to a federal criminal complaint, Boy told investigators she intended to "destroy [the capitol building] as significantly as possible" and to kill state senators during a senate session. Patel said the plan had reached an advanced stage, with the suspect conducting surveillance of the capitol building at least five times and purchasing materials to build an explosive device.
Federal prosecutors charged Boy with attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. No further details on her suspected ties to the group were immediately released.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not disclosed additional information about any potential co-conspirators or the timeline for further legal proceedings.
