Explosions Reported in Southern Iran, Air Defenses Activated

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Explosions were reported in the southern Iranian cities of Sirik and Minab. According to the Mehr News Agency, a blast occurred in Sirik, while sounds of explosions were heard around Minab in Hormozgan province. Air defense systems were activated in the west of the capital, Tehran, and on the outskirts of Mehr in Fars province as part of security measures. Reports indicate that no explosions occurred within the city of Mehr. Iranian state television reported that sounds of distant explosions were heard on Kish Island, though the source of the noise has not yet been identified. These developments follow threats from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding potential new attacks against Iran.
