BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's embassy in Libya said it has located 36 Iraqi nationals who entered the country through irregular channels, working in coordination with Libyan authorities. The embassy said it is processing arrangements for their voluntary return to Iraq.
Ahmed al-Saffar, who represents Iraq's Foreign Ministry in Libya, told the official gazette that the embassy had previously helped repatriate 352 Iraqi migrants. He said the mission continues to provide humanitarian assistance to the migrants, including help contacting their families and accessing medical services, and that procedures to document their citizenship have been completed.
Al-Saffar added that the Foreign Ministry places high priority on the voluntary return file, with the aim of protecting Iraqi citizens from the dangers of human smuggling and trafficking networks.
