Explosion of ammunition-laden vehicle kills 2 in Syria's Idlib countryside

BASRA, Iraq — A vehicle carrying munitions exploded in the town of Binnish in the countryside of Idlib, northwestern Syria, killing two people and wounding five others. A security source said the vehicle detonated while moving through the town. Idlib's Provincial Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management confirmed the casualty figures and said the toll was preliminary and could rise. An agency correspondent reported hearing several additional blasts after the initial explosion, with panic spreading in the area. Initial reports indicate the blast occurred while the ammunition-laden vehicle was in transit inside Binnish. The cause of the explosion and the ownership of the vehicle had not yet been determined. Binnish is located in the northeastern countryside of Idlib, about 7 kilometers from Idlib city along the road connecting it to Saraqeb.
