BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's National Security Advisory said more than 500 suspects have been detained since the launch of the "Shadow of Justice" operation in Baghdad and several other cities. Agency spokesman Arshad al-Hakim announced the figure, adding that the operation is being carried out in coordination with judicial bodies to enforce existing and current arrest warrants. The security advisory said earlier that the operation was set to begin on August 22. Security sources confirmed on August 23 that the campaign targets individuals wanted on murder, theft, terrorism and drug-related charges. The operation covers Baghdad along with other cities, and security work is continuing to locate additional suspects. Banners reading "Shadow of Justice" and "Being Implemented" have been hung on streets in the targeted cities, and a dedicated hotline has been set up to receive tips from the public.
