Expert Calls for National Strategy to Combat Digital Blackmail

Cybersecurity and digital transformation expert Ali al-Musevi said electronic blackmail cannot be addressed through temporary fixes and requires a comprehensive national system. He said such a framework should combine deterrent laws, advanced technologies, security operations and public awareness. Musevi called for direct coordination among security, judicial, education and media institutions to reduce blackmail cases. He also urged the creation of fast and secure reporting channels. He said victims should be given legal and psychological protection to help people file complaints without fear. That, he added, would make reporting easier and more effective. Musevi said electronic blackmail is not only a technical crime but also a social, moral and security threat. He said it increasingly targets society, especially young people.
