Erbil police say murder and kidnapping suspects detained in Kirkuk, Diyala operations

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Erbil Security Directorate said Wednesday that coordinated operations in three cities led to the arrest of suspects wanted for murder and kidnapping, alongside a separate drowning in Diyala province. According to the directorate, a suspect accused of killing a citizen in Kirkuk fled to Erbil before being apprehended in a joint security operation. In a separate operation, police in Kirkuk detained two suspects in the Shorja district who had been wanted by the Nineveh judiciary on charges of premeditated murder and kidnapping, the directorate said. In Diyala, police teams recovered the body of a young man from the Diyala River. The incident occurred hours after a drowning was reported near the Popular Mobilization Martyrs Bridge, making it the second similar case recorded in the province on the same day. Further details on the operations, including the identities of those detained, were not immediately disclosed.
