Erbil held a broad meeting aimed at protecting the environment and preventing violations against public property, with the participation of the Interior Minister, the Erbil governor and the head of the Soran Administration. The gathering produced a strict roadmap for enforcement and coordination.
The Interior Minister said the Kurdistan Regional Government places special importance on environmental protection and the fight against violations, adding that implementation on the ground is being closely monitored. Participants stressed the need for strong coordination among public institutions and full enforcement of laws and environmental directives.
The meeting also called for environmental awareness to be taught in schools and for the media and civil society organizations to be included in the effort. Officials said wider public engagement is necessary to support compliance and strengthen protection measures.
It was also decided that legal action will be taken without exception against all encroachments on public lands. The move signals a tougher stance on both environmental abuse and unauthorized interference with state property in Erbil.
