ERBIL, Iraq โ A special ceremony was held Thursday in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, to observe the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, the first time the region has formally marked the occasion. The event was organized by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Erbil in cooperation with the Research Center of the World Civilization Initiative.
The program, which began at 4 p.m. under the slogan "Toward a multipolar world and a shared future for humanity," aimed to strengthen dialogue among civilizations. According to the Chinese Consulate, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution at its 78th session in 2024, on China's proposal, to designate June 10 each year as the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations.
Organizers said the event sought to reinforce the foundations of dialogue in the Kurdistan Region's current conditions, deepen ties between peoples, and strengthen cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and China.
