Dollar slips against Iraqi dinar in Baghdad, Erbil morning trade

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The US dollar opened lower against the Iraqi dinar in the free market in Baghdad and Erbil on Wednesday, according to local exchange data. At Baghdad's Kifai and Harisiye exchanges, $100 traded at 154,150 dinars, down from 154,600 dinars a day earlier. Exchange offices in the capital quoted a selling rate of 154,500 dinars and a buying rate of 153,500 dinars per $100. In Erbil, the dollar also eased slightly, with $100 selling at 154,100 dinars and buying at 154,000 dinars at the opening session. Despite the modest decline, market prices remained above the 154,000 dinar level. The Central Bank of Iraq's official gazette rate stood at 145,000 dinars per $100, well below the prevailing free-market rate.
