BAGHDAD, Iraq โ An electrical engineer in Iraq's Diyala province has died from injuries sustained when an electrical panel exploded at a power station last week, according to provincial electricity directorate officials. The engineer, identified as Amir Mulan, headed the maintenance center in the Khalis district and suffered severe burns while carrying out technical duties at the station.
Officials said medical teams attempted to treat Mulan after the incident, but toxic effects from the burns led to serious health complications and a deterioration in his condition. Local sources had earlier reported that he was critically injured in the explosion and resulting fire at a power station in Khalis district.
The provincial electricity directorate has opened an administrative investigation into the accident. His death has renewed concerns about workplace safety standards in Diyala's electrical infrastructure, officials said.
