BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” A 10-year-old child from the Ba'shiqah subdistrict in Nineveh province has tested positive for Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, a medical source at the Nineveh Health Directorate said. The child was admitted on June 4 as a suspected case at Mosul's Salam Teaching Hospital, and blood samples sent to the Public Health Central Laboratory in Baghdad confirmed the infection, the source added. The patient has been transferred to Al-Shifa Specialist Hospital in Mosul for treatment in its epidemic-diseases unit, with medical teams monitoring his condition, the directorate said. The case is the fourth hemorrhagic fever case recorded in Nineveh in recent weeks, according to the source. Earlier infections in the province included a 57-year-old man from Sharqat in Saladin province and two young men from the southern Qayyarah subdistrict. The two younger patients were discharged from hospital after completing treatment. No further details on the latest case were immediately available.
