Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever case confirmed in Duhok, Kurdish region

DUHOK, Iraq — The Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Health confirmed a case of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever in a 23-year-old man in Duhok province, ministry spokesperson Srkar Surci said. According to Surci, the patient is a resident of Bazi village in the Soran independent administration and contracted the virus after contact with an infected animal. After symptoms appeared, the man sought care at a hospital in Duhok city, where medical examinations were carried out. Surci said the patient is currently being monitored at the hospital and his condition is stable. The ministry official urged residents to notify veterinary teams if their animals show signs of illness, and called on people who work with livestock and animal products to seek immediate medical attention if they develop any symptoms.
