English Championship side Coventry City have completed the signing of Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest for a reported fee of around ยฃ9 million. Awoniyi, who joined Forest in 2022, became the club's record signing at the time and scored 17 goals in his first Premier League season, helping the team avoid relegation. He was later limited by injuries in subsequent campaigns. The 27-year-old striker began his professional career in Sweden with IFK Stockholm in 2015 and has since played for Gent, Mainz, and Union Berlin, where he finished as the Bundesliga's joint top scorer in 2021โ€“22 with 20 goals. That breakout spell earned him a move to Forest, where he made 110 appearances in all competitions. Coventry said the transfer was aimed at strengthening their attacking options ahead of the new Championship season. No further details on contract length were immediately available.
