BERLIN โ Government networks in Berlin were hit by a cyberattack, prompting authorities to launch an investigation and isolate affected departments from the city's administration system.
According to German news agency dpa, citing capital officials, the breach targeted the city's urban development, building and housing, and mobility, transport, climate and environment agencies. Specialist units quickly disconnected the two affected administrations from the government network to prevent the intrusion from spreading further.
Germany's Federal Information Security Agency (BSI), the Berlin Police Office and the Berlin Prosecutor's Office have been tasked with investigating the attack. A crisis unit has also been set up to manage the response.
It remains unclear whether any government data was compromised in the breach, dpa reported.
