Car of health inspector set on fire in eastern Mosul

MOSUL, Iraq — Unidentified assailants set fire to a parked car belonging to a Health Inspection Director in eastern Mosul, according to information cited from Ninawa police. The vehicle, a white 2020 Hyundai Tucson belonging to Health Inspection Director Aziz Riyad, was torched while parked in the Al-Gufran neighborhood on the city's east side. Riyad initially believed the fire may have been accidental or caused by an electrical fault and did not file a complaint. A review of nearby security camera footage later showed the fire was set deliberately, establishing it as an intentional act of arson. The camera footage has become the primary lead for investigators. Ninawa security forces are working to identify the suspect and determine the motive behind the attack. An investigation is underway to locate, detain and refer the suspect to judicial authorities, according to police information cited in the report.
