Bus crash on Mosul-Baghdad highway kills 3, injures 20

MOSUL, Iraq — A passenger bus overturned on the Mosul-Baghdad highway in Nineveh province on Wednesday, killing three people and injuring 20, according to initial reports from security sources. The accident occurred near the al-Hadhir junction on the road heading toward Baghdad, the sources said. The crash happened after the bus collided with a truck and rolled off the road, according to the same accounts. Security forces and civil defense teams were dispatched to the site. The injured were transported to the nearest hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the forensic medical office. Women, children and elderly passengers were reported among the casualties. Officials said the death and injury tolls could be revised as the investigation continues.
