BASRA, Iraq โ A 'Safe City' project aimed at modernizing security infrastructure in Basra has moved from the design stage to implementation, the head of the Basra Provincial Council's Security Committee, Aqeel Talib al-Firiji, said on Wednesday. The project is intended to strengthen security through smart surveillance systems and digital infrastructure, with advanced cameras enabling real-time data analysis across the city.
Al-Firiji described the project as a significant step, noting that Hikvision, a global surveillance and security analytics company, is serving as the technical partner. He said the company's work is being carried out under the supervision of the provincial council and in line with required standards.
The official also pointed to a forum organized by Hikvision, titled 'Door to the Future,' as an important venue for tracking the latest smart surveillance technologies. He did not provide a timeline for completion of the project, and no further details on the deployment schedule were immediately available.
