Baghdad police arrest suspect for firing gun at wedding

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Baghdad's Karkh Police Command said it has arrested a suspect who fired a gun into the air at a wedding after video of the incident circulated on social media. In a statement, the command said a task force was formed once the footage began spreading online. The team included personnel from the Mahmudiya police station, the Tifaife station, the Tifaife intelligence unit and the Tifaife emergency response jurisdiction, it added. Investigators collected information and opened an inquiry, identifying the suspect and locating his address, according to the statement. He was taken into custody in line with legal procedures and referred to the judiciary, the command said, adding that he has been detained pending court proceedings.
