Barzani, Iraqi parliament speaker discuss Baghdad-Erbil disputes

Iraqi Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met Iraqi Parliament Speaker Halbousi in Baghdad to discuss the legislature’s role in resolving outstanding disputes between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government. Both sides agreed that unresolved issues between the KRG and the federal government should be settled on the basis of the constitution. They also discussed the need for Parliament to serve all components of Iraq and contribute to political solutions. The meeting also addressed draft national laws intended to protect the rights of all components, with reference to the federal system and the KRG’s constitutional status.
