SALADIN, Iraq โ€” A staff member in the purchasing department at the Baji Refinery has made allegations concerning sales, commissions and contracts at the facility. The employee claimed General Manager Adnan Cemili assumed the position without following legal career progression and removed or transferred experienced staff members with more than 30 years of expertise. The same source said employees who opposed Cemili or refused to sign official documents were also removed from their positions. The staff member alleged that price inflation, irregular agreements and other misconduct increased over the past three years, with fuel tanks reportedly sold for amounts reaching 15 billion dinars. The employee further claimed bonuses exceeding 100 million dinars per person annually were paid to 50 staff members. Some institutions were reportedly informed about corruption files and contracts allegedly made in violation of the law. The source said the alleged irregularities exceeded in scale those events commonly referred to as the "robbery of the century." The refinery did not immediately comment on the allegations. No further details were available.
