Baghdad police detain 147 people, seize weapons in Rusafa operation

BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Baghdad Rusafa Police Command said it carried out a preventive operation in the Kufah neighborhood of the capital, arresting wanted suspects and seizing a cache of weapons.
According to a written statement from the command, the Jerusalem Police Station and area patrols conducted the operation in coordination with the National Security and Intelligence units. Police said two suspects wanted under various legal provisions and 145 people accused of violating residency conditions were taken into custody.
Officers seized nine rifles, including Kalashnikovs and single-shot weapons, three pistols, 13 offensive hand grenades, 11 grenade fuses and 13 magazines. The cache also included 60 rifle rounds, 160 BKC rounds, 55 pistol cartridges, 12.5 mm ammunition and an anti-tank rocket, the statement said.
A Land Cruiser-type official vehicle without documentation was also recovered. The detainees and seized materials were referred to the relevant police station and competent authorities under legal procedures, the command added.
