BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Police in Baghdad's Rusafa district have arrested a man accused of shooting his sister with a Kalashnikov rifle inside the family's home following a domestic dispute, the Rusafa Command of the Baghdad Police Directorate said. According to the statement, investigators from the Al-Amin Police Center and emergency response teams worked together to uncover the circumstances of the killing, recovering the weapon and taking the suspect and his father into custody.
The command said judicial proceedings have been initiated against both detainees. No further details on a possible motive beyond the family dispute or on the victim's identity were immediately provided.
Separately, the Basra Police Directorate announced that municipal teams had demolished an illegal structure in the Hantiah area, where an armed attack and homicide had recently taken place. The directorate said the demolition was carried out in line with local government orders and that strict legal and administrative measures will continue to be applied against unauthorized buildings used by wanted individuals or for criminal activity.
The Basra command added that further demolitions will be pursued wherever illegal structures are found to harbor suspects or facilitate crimes.
