Baghdad Governorate Announces Opening Date for 'Ya Hussein' Pilgrim Road

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Baghdad Governorate announced on Saturday, July 25, 2026, the completion and opening date for the 'Ya Hussein' pilgrim road ahead of the Arbaeen pilgrimage. According to an official statement, field work on the road project is continuing without interruption. Authorities expect the work to be completed within 72 hours, allowing the road to officially open for pilgrims and processions before the peak period of the Arbaeen pilgrimage begins. The road is being renovated to ensure the safe passage of visitors and to maintain organized traffic flow. This decision follows field measures announced last Monday by the Baghdad Operations Command. The Command had previously reported that the road stretching from the 'Bridge Intersection' to the Baghdad Belts was closed to traffic for maintenance and comprehensive renovation work.
