BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's higher judiciary said the total value of cash and real estate seized during the investigation into former Deputy Oil Minister Adnan Jamili has increased, according to a court statement.
The court said financial reviews and prosecution procedures in the case are continuing and that blocked amounts have been updated in line with new findings. The investigation is based on corruption charges and allegations of irregular use of public funds against Jamili.
Judicial sources said all asset movements in the file are being examined in detail and that the evidence-gathering process is ongoing. Authorities said the seized assets have been recorded and handed over to the relevant units.
The court stressed that the confidentiality of the investigation is being preserved and that judicial proceedings are following their normal schedule. In a public statement, the judiciary said the final ruling on the case will be issued by the courts and that the process will not be subject to outside interference.
