Apple is cutting more than 200 jobs from its Siri and Vision Pro development teams as part of a restructuring, according to a Bloomberg report. Roughly 100 of the affected employees work on the Vision Pro team, with the remaining 100 assigned to the Siri software engineering group.
The company said some divisions are being reorganized to improve user experience. Apple added that technical infrastructure changes tied to the development of an AI-powered version of Siri have created a need for new talent and a broader restructuring of the Siri teams.
The Vision Pro reorganization is intended to reflect how consumers are actually using the device, with priorities revised and resources redirected to other new products, according to the company. Demand for the headset has remained limited, while producing immersive video content โ one of Apple's flagship formats for the device โ remains costly. Each three-dimensional video can cost several million dollars to produce and involves multiple internal teams alongside outside contractors.
