Anbar police to carry out controlled detonation of ISIS remnants east of the province

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Anbar Provincial Police Command said military engineering teams have begun a controlled detonation operation to dispose of ISIS war remnants and ammunition stockpiles in the Husaybeh area, east of the province. In a statement, the command said the operation is being carried out by specialist units and poses no danger to local residents. It added that residents in surrounding districts may hear the blasts and have been briefed in advance not to be alarmed by the sound. The command described the work as a routine security measure aimed at clearing the area of militant remnants. It said all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure public safety and that the operation would be completed in a controlled manner.
