Anbar police arrest two suspects in Falluja power cable thefts within 24 hours

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Police in Iraq’s Anbar province arrested two suspects accused of stealing electrical transformers and cables in the city of Falluja, the Anbar Police Directorate said. The operation was carried out in less than 24 hours from the time the theft was reported. The arrests followed a joint operation by the Falluja Police Division and the Falluja Anti-Crime Unit, both under the East Anbar Police Directorate, and were conducted under the direct supervision of Anbar Police Director Major General Adel Hamid Rashid. Field surveillance, intelligence and security camera footage were used to identify the suspects. The two detainees were referred to judicial authorities and detained under Article 444/11 of the Iraqi Penal Code, the directorate said. No further details on the case were immediately available.
