Anbar governor says Ramadi desalination project to boost water security

RAMADI, Iraq — Anbar Governor Omar Mishan Dabous said a drainage water treatment project launched in the Zinkura area of Ramadi will strengthen water security and help address shortages in the western province. Dabous described the initiative as a qualified investment that supports the assessment and diversification of local water resources. Speaking on the project, Dabous said the Anbar government has consistently backed strategic water-sector initiatives and is coordinating with the General Directorate of Water and the Ministry of Water Resources on similar schemes. He added that the project has a production capacity of approximately 100 cubic meters and is expected to make a meaningful contribution to meeting the area's demand. The governor said authorities aim to complete a second phase of the project, which he described as essential to achieving the broader goals tied to the initiative. He also thanked the British ambassador, the director of the General Directorate of Water and other parties involved in the project's implementation.
