American actor Paul Avery, known for playing "Huey" on the soap opera "All My Children," died alongside his wife, Sheila, in a house fire in Pennsylvania. Firefighters arrived at the home shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday and pulled the couple from the blaze in critical condition. Both were pronounced dead shortly afterward despite efforts at CPR.
Avery also appeared as an uncredited television cameraman in the 1978 film "Superman," according to his filmography. A Vietnam War veteran, he later founded the local newspaper "Ridge View Echo" in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where he lived.
The couple's daughter announced the deaths in a social media post, expressing grief over the loss of her parents. Joe Fallon, a colleague at the newspaper, said Avery was "truly the most interesting man in the world when you consider everything he did in his life."
No further details about the cause of the fire were immediately available.
