ANBAR, Iraq โ A 13-year-old boy drowned in the Euphrates River in Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, security sources said. The child was swimming near the city's embankment in the Tamim district when he was carried away by the current.
River rescue teams recovered the child's body from the water and sent it to the forensic medicine unit.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Security officials noted that similar tragedies occur frequently in the area, particularly during the summer months when rising temperatures drive more people to swim in rivers and water channels.
Ramadi officials have repeatedly warned citizens against swimming in the Euphrates and other waterways, citing the recurring accidents as a persistent safety concern.
