Zeydi Welcomes Integration of Sadr’s Armed Wing into State Authority

Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the National Shia Movement, has announced that the Saraya al-Salam militia has fully detached from the movement and integrated into state authority. Zeydi expressed support for the move in a written statement, noting that the transition aims to strengthen state institutions, bolster government authority, and reinforce the rule of law. The initiative is viewed as a critical step toward enhancing internal stability and upholding the principle that the state should maintain an exclusive monopoly on the use of force. By aligning with official state structures, the move is intended to support security forces in the execution of their constitutional duties. Zeydi further called upon all other armed groups to operate under the umbrella of official state institutions to protect Iraq's sovereignty and ensure national security.
