RIYADH, Saudi Arabia โ The leader of Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, has threatened to target Saudi Arabia's oil facilities and critical infrastructure, including Riyadh airport, if military operations against his group escalate. In a televised speech, Houthi said the movement would pursue "a comprehensive escalation" and accused the Saudi leadership of showing no desire for peace or understanding.
Houthi also addressed Yemen's economic and humanitarian conditions, saying prices of essential goods had risen sharply and oil revenues had declined. He claimed the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel had "failed" in their approach to the movement, though he did not elaborate.
The speech concluded with a call for supporters to take part in planned public demonstrations on Friday. No immediate response from Saudi authorities was reported.
