BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A field study conducted in New York found that a fan attending a 2026 World Cup group-stage match between Morocco and Brazil would spend a total of $1,847 in a single day.
Researchers calculated that a one-night stay at a mid-range hotel in Manhattan cost about $250, with prices driven up by tournament demand. The match ticket itself was the largest expense, reaching $1,500. An Uber ride from Manhattan to the stadium in New Jersey added $83 to the total, while food inside the stadium was priced at $9 for a hot dog and $5 for a bottle of water.
The figures do not include additional spending such as shopping or local transportation beyond the ride to the venue. The study highlights how attending a single World Cup match in a high-cost U.S. city can run into the thousands of dollars for fans.
