WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — U.S. Vice President JD Vance said negotiations with Iran are going well and that President Donald Trump's administration is prepared to give diplomacy a chance to succeed. Speaking to reporters, Vance said Washington has set clear objectives in the talks and that any additional steps will depend largely on Iran's posture.
Vance noted that the United States has conducted military operations against Iran in response to attacks on commercial ships and has deployed various pressure tools to secure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. He said Iran's nuclear program and attacks on shipping remain central concerns for the administration.
The vice president warned that Washington would reassess its approach if Iran moves to rebuild its nuclear program or continues attacks on vessels. Vance said Trump's directives point toward reaching an agreement through good-faith negotiations, and offered his assessment of where the process currently stands.
