ISTANBUL, Türkiye — FIFA has awarded the 2026 World Cup group-stage Goal of the Tournament to Uzbekistan striker Eldor Shomurodov. The 31-year-old forward received 36 percent of the votes in an online poll organized by football's global governing body.
Shomurodov's winning goal came in Uzbekistan's final group-stage match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which his side lost 3-1. Uzbekistan exited the tournament without earning a point, finishing last in a group that included the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Portugal and Colombia with three defeats.
Shomurodov beat goals from Haiti forward Wilson Isidor and Bosnia and Herzegovina's Kerim Alaibegovic to take the award. He is contracted to Roma, having spent last season on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir and played for Russian Premier League side Rostov between 2017 and 2020.
