WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — Pentagon figures show that 687 US service members have been wounded in the escalating conflict with Iran, according to an analysis of the department's latest internal reports. Internal Pentagon statistics dated August 4 indicate that 417 troops were wounded during "Operation Epic Fury," a campaign the Trump administration declared concluded on May 5. A further 270 service members have been recorded as wounded since a new series of operations against Iran began on July 7. The number of US soldiers killed stands at 18. Separately, CNN reported, citing people familiar with the matter, that American forces have consumed roughly 80 percent of their stockpiled interceptor missiles during the fighting with Iran. According to the network, officials in the Trump administration have raised the issue of missile stockpiles with the president for a second time in recent weeks. The report said officials had also voiced concerns about the depletion of missile reserves during internal discussions over rising escalation before the administration decided on August 2 to cancel planned strikes against Iran. No further details on the canceled operations were immediately available.
