US, Israeli media report conflict with Iran nearing expansion

WASHINGTON, United States — U.S. and Israeli media outlets reported Wednesday that a decision to expand the conflict with Iran is approaching rapidly, as Washington and Tehran continue negotiations. Israel’s Channel 13 said U.S. escalation against Iran would result either at President Donald Trump’s request or through Israel’s entry into the war in response to an Iranian attack. Israel’s Broadcasting Authority reported that the United States has informed Israel it will intensify strikes against Iran and deploy bomber aircraft. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it has redirected nine commercial vessels and neutralized one since the maritime blockade against Iran resumed on July 14. President Trump threatened to strike vital facilities in Iran if any new ship attacks occur in the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth pledged a tenfold military response if Iran continues attacks on commercial shipping and regional states.
