GENEVA, Switzerland — The Swiss Foreign Ministry said preliminary talks between the United States and Iran will be held Saturday at the Bürgenstock mountain resort. The ministry told Reuters that mediators Pakistan and Qatar, along with other countries, will take part in the discussions.
The meetings come a day after US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a ceasefire agreement remotely. Under the deal, Iran committed to lowering its uranium enrichment levels in exchange for the United States lifting sanctions.
Bürgenstock, a luxury resort overlooking Lake Lucerne, has previously hosted high-level diplomatic events, including talks on Ukraine. Switzerland has long acted as a neutral intermediary between the two governments.
No further details on the agenda or the delegations' composition were immediately available.
