US imposes sanctions on three Hezbollah-linked individuals and five entities

WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — The U.S. Treasury Department announced new sanctions targeting three individuals and five entities linked to Hezbollah. The list includes Mahmoud al-Qumati, described by the department as a senior official in the organization. The Treasury said the designations were issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control and target individuals raising funds for Hezbollah in Lebanon and other countries. According to the statement, the sanctions apply to people collecting money on behalf of the group in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. The department also said Lebanese officials affiliated with Hezbollah were sanctioned on the grounds that they obstruct the peace process and disarmament efforts. Separately, the State Department announced financial sanctions on May 21, 2026 against eight Lebanese individuals linked to Hezbollah, including Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Ali Razi Sheibani.
