BASRA, Iraq โ A US official said American forces struck two missile launchers belonging to Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, destroying them in an operation carried out on Tuesday. The official said the strike was conducted as part of the US military presence in the region.
The action comes as the United States has stepped up military measures in response to threats from Iran-backed groups against maritime traffic in the Persian Gulf. Larak Island, located near the Strait of Hormuz, has long served as a significant base for Iran's military operations in the strategic waterway.
According to the official, the targeted launchers had been threatening international shipping operations in the area. The statement emphasized that the operation was part of the US commitment to protecting the security of its allies in the region.
