The US Central Command denied Iran's claim that its forces fired warning shots at American warships in the Gulf, saying the report was false. In a statement issued Friday, CENTCOM said Iranian forces did not attack or fire on the US Navy, adding that doing so would constitute an open violation of the ceasefire. The command did not provide further details about the incident. Iran's military said its navy fired warning shots at US destroyers DDG-103 and DDG-87 after the ships entered the Gulf without authorization. According to Iran's armed forces, the ships departed the Gulf and turned toward the Indian Ocean after the warnings. The Iranian statement said the warnings were carried out with support from attack drones and missiles against unauthorized maritime activity in the region. CENTCOM said US forces continue maritime operations in the area and fully enforce the embargo on Iran. The US amphibious assault ship Tripoli also left the region.
