TEL AVIV, Israel — LONDON — Britain said it is prepared to repel any attack after Iran's Revolutionary Guards warned London over its alleged role in recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran. The Guards had accused the United Kingdom of taking part in the strikes and urged it to change course.
According to Israel's Channel 12, US officials told their Israeli counterparts to remain on high alert. The broadcaster reported that Israel has informed Washington it wants to strike previously untouched targets inside Iran if it joins the conflict. It also said the Israeli Air Force and air defense systems have been placed on a higher state of readiness against a possible escalation.
The six-member Gulf Cooperation Council and Jordan issued a joint statement condemning what they described as Iran's repeated attacks on their territories.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran escalated after Iranian officials said a missile strike hit the Shelamcheh border crossing area in Khuzestan province, killing one person and wounding 11.
