BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The United Arab Emirates has condemned Iran's attack on Iraq's Kurdistan Region, calling it a clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty and a threat to the country's security and stability. In a written statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government and said it would support any measures to protect security and stability.
The Kurdistan Region Presidency issued a separate statement the same day strongly condemning ballistic missile and drone strikes targeting Sulaymaniyah and Erbil. The presidency warned of rising security tensions in the region and reacted sharply to attacks directed at civilians.
The Kurdistan Region Security Council confirmed that seven missiles struck three locations in Sulaymaniyah earlier in the day. Specialist teams on the ground were still working to determine the extent of casualties and material damage, the council said.
