Two security personnel and a civilian wounded in Dhi Qar operation

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Two security personnel and a civilian were wounded during an operation to arrest a wanted individual in the Dibat area of Shatra district, north of Dhi Qar city, local security sources said. The operation was carried out late the previous night on orders from judicial authorities. Gunfire broke out when the wanted individual opened fire on the security forces, according to the sources. The wounded were transported to hospital for treatment. The suspect fled in an unspecified direction after the incident. Security forces continued efforts to locate the fugitive and clarify the circumstances of the operation, the sources added. The area is known as the main base of Abdulamir al-Taiyeban al-Dabi, a tribal affairs adviser to the prime minister and chief of the Dibat tribe. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
