Iran fires missiles at US forces in retaliation for Larak Island strike

WASHINGTON, United States — Iran launched several missiles from multiple locations inside the country in response to a US airstrike on Larak Island, the Iranian government said. A US official, speaking to Fox News, confirmed the Iranian strikes targeted US forces in Jordan and reported that all missiles were intercepted and that no major damage was caused. Iran's semi-official Fars news agency carried unconfirmed reports of explosion sounds near the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Iranian media also claimed missiles were fired at US naval forces in the Strait of Hormuz. The exchanges followed a US strike that hit two Iranian Revolutionary Guard launch platforms on Larak Island, which Washington said were preparing to fire missiles carrying naval mines into the Strait of Hormuz. The Revolutionary Guards acknowledged casualties from the operation and said Iran would respond militarily and economically to the United States.
