Two killed in shelling of western Sweida neighborhoods

DAMASCUS, Syria — Two civilians were killed and several others wounded when artillery fire struck neighborhoods in the western part of the Syrian city of Sweida, local Syrian sources reported. One of those killed was a tractor driver, while the other was a displaced woman working in the area, according to the sources. Sham TV said in a statement on its Telegram channel that the attack targeted agricultural land along the western axis of the city. The outlet did not identify who carried out the shelling. The incident comes amid repeated ceasefire violations in Sweida province, which has faced heavy security tensions since major clashes broke out in July 2025. Steps had been taken after those clashes to establish a ceasefire and restore stability to the area. Continued violations between the parties have continued to increase civilian casualties and injuries in the province.
