Iran's Revolutionary Guard vows retaliation for Larek Island attack

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it will respond to an attack on Larek Island in the country's south and punish those responsible. In a statement, the IRGC said "the enemy's attack on Larek Island will be met with retaliation and the aggressor will be punished," adding that the strike killed and wounded both combatants and civilians. The IRGC accused the United States and Israel of carrying out the attack and said it stemmed from their failure to resolve domestic issues and preserve their position among regional countries. Several explosions were reported near Larek Island in southern Iran on Sunday evening. A US official confirmed that two IRGC missile launchers on Larek Island were struck in the attack.
