BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Police in Baghdad's Karkh district arrested two suspects in separate incidents involving threatening writing on a house wall and insulting language written on a mosque wall, the Karkh Police Command said on Saturday.
According to the command, the cases were handled under the supervision of Karkh Police Commander Maj. Gen. Haqqani Adnan Hasan Hamd. Media Police Division teams worked with the Ela District Rescue Squad and the Beya Police Division to investigate the reports and identify the suspects.
Investigators reviewed security camera footage to determine the identities and addresses of those involved before carrying out operations that led to the arrests, the statement said. One suspect told investigators he had written the threatening messages on the house due to a prior dispute, while the other confessed to writing the insults on the mosque wall.
The two detainees have been referred to the competent authorities, and legal proceedings will be pursued against them in accordance with the law, the command added. No further details were immediately available.
